Eye care Benefits

Do you know that the provision of eye care tests and or corrective glasses or contact lenses for visual displays (VDUs) paid for by an employer are a benefit in employment not chargeable to taxation.

Employers have several options to offer optical or eye care benefits to their employees including directors.

Whilst eye care may not be on the top of most employees benefit wish list, laying out for eye tests, glasses and contact lenses is a financial burden most staff could do without. Also from the perspective of the employer, offering optical benefits goes some way towards improving overall health and wellbeing in the work place, amongst the workforce and also ensures that employers meet the required duty-of-care requirements, particularly when it relates to business drivers and regular users of VDUs.
